AN 80-TONNE crane was left stuck in the mud on Wednesday after a collision left it in a ditch.
The crane, owned by Bronzeshield Crane Hire, ended up deep in thick mud after it was involved in a collision with a lorry and a van in an incident on the A11 and B1107 roundabout.
The crane narrowly missed power lines as it went off the road and it is expected that some of these may have to be isolated when the crane is removed.
No-one was hurt in the incident near Thetford, which took place at around 6am.
Bill Frost, managing director of Bronzeshield, confirmed that the driver had escaped unscathed.
“That is a notorious roundabout for accidents and obviously we did everything we could to deal with the situation,” he said.
An operation to dig out the crane took place from 8.30pm on the evening of the incident.
The B1107 was closed until 11.30am while the A11 had one lane closed while the incident was cleared up.
