Students at West Suffolk College's Conservatoire EAST to host live fund-raising concert this evening

Students from West Suffolk College's Conservatoire EAST will be showing off their talents at a live concert this evening.

The group's 'Royal Night In' event will see students perform songs, monologues and dance routines in order to raise funds for the Theatre Royal's 'Show Will Go On' campaign.

The Theatre Royal launched the campaign to raise £50,000 to help it survive the coronavirus crisis. Its total currently stands at more than £42,000.

Han Colthorpe, director of production and performing arts at the college, said: “We have a fantastic relationship with Theatre Royal so we are thrilled to be able to collaborate in order to support them and their campaign. The planning that has gone into this has been entirely student led and I am exceptionally proud of each and every one of them.”

Owen Calvert-Lyons, chief executive and artistic director at the Theatre Royal, added: “This event shows how passionately young people feel about Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds.I’m delighted that these students are using their talents to support us during this challenging time.”

The event will start at 6.45pm today and will be hosted on the college's Facebook page.
