A new bar opens in Bury St Edmunds tomorrow as owner of the former Bar Milan opens his new venture, Zone, in Tayfen Road.
Coady L-Rhys and Michele Wilson say they are excited about the new venue beneath Jules Bar which has enabled them to expand their offer with a club for 18 upwards that is open to straight and gay customers.
The business partners ran Bar Milan in St John’s Street for 10 months but wanted a bigger venue.
Zone has a dance area, comfy sofas and a warm but smart atmosphere and the two stress that its offer will be very much led by customers.
It opens Thursday to Saturday 9pm to 1am and they are hoping to provide an Under 18s night. They are also applying to expand their hours to a closing time of 2.30pm.
Zone will hold DJ evenings, karaoke, themed nights and live music and will employ male and female door staff at any one time.
Coady said: “This will be a place that everybody can come to and where everbody can enjoy themselves.
“Our pre launch party was very successful and we have customers of all ages and from all different walks of life.”
Michele said: “This is a big exciting venture but we want this to be a friendly environment. I take the time to talk to customers. Its their club and we want everyone to be happy. It’s not just about making money.”
Coady has run several clubs in the US and Italy and Michele, who was born in Bury, has many years’ experience working in the industry.
