Christmas came early for 70 children at Horringer Hedgehogs baby and toddler group when they welcomed Santa and his helpers.

Frank Lovegrove, 89, was the star of the morning as he played Santa and gave gifts to the children.

He has played Santa since the early 90’s and is a former parish councillor, hall booking secretary, chair of the community council and now chairman of the Royal British Legion for Horringer and District.

Next year, at 90-years-old Mr Lovegrove hopes to join the Hedgehogs group for one last time and has joked he will then give over his red suit to the group.

Organiser Lisa Hasler said: “Frank has done so much for our community of which we are all grateful.” The group is based at Horringer Community Centre. Visit http://lisahasler.wix.com/horringer-hedgehogs
