Children safe in high-vis

Have your say

CHILDREN in Stonham Aspal can look forward to safe walks to school thanks to a new addition to school uniform.

Pupils at Stonham Aspal Primary School now have high visibility jackets as part of a road safety initiative powered by local police and the East of England Co-operative Society.

Mid Suffolk safer neighbourhood team worked alongside Mid Suffolk District Council and Suffolk County Council to launch a road safety forum and website following a number of safety concerns raised by parents.

A community speedwatch scheme has been established and three flashing signs have been installed on the A1120, which runs through the village.

The local church has also agreed to have footpaths routed through the churchyard and cemetery to take children away from the busy road.
