The weather could have been kinder to Bury St Edmunds Firefighters Paul Shattock, left, and David Starie on their 19.5 hour yomp in fire fighting kit from Newmarket to Felixstowe firestations.

Ex-marine Paul said: “In the whole time we were walking we only had three or four hours when it wasn’t raining. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done”

But he said their support team of Bruce Moye, who took this picture as the finished, and Dale Nunn kept them supplied with food and drink. By Monday they had raised £1,132 for the Firfighters Charity and Arthritis Research UK. Donate at
