AN unclaimed Lottery win of more than £50,000 has gone to charity after the winner failed to come forward to collect it.

The ticket-holder bought the Lotto ticket in the Borough of St Edmundsbury and matched five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on 19 June 2010.

The £53,948 prize and the interest it earned has now been passed over to the National Lottery Good Causes after the owner of the winning ticket failed to claim the prize before the deadline of 5.30pm last Thursday, more than 180 days after the draw took place.

This will join £25 billion that has been raised for the Good Causes through lottery ticket sales since its launch in 1994.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it’s a real shame that they have missed out, but there is still one winner - the nation.”

Anyone who believes they have a winning ticket for any National Lottery draws within 180 day deadline should call 0845 910 0000.
