Charity bake-off at Mildenhall care home tests airmen’s and carers’ skills
Competitors and their cakes rose to the challenge at a Mildenhall care home last week as patients, families and staff battled against personnel from RAF Mildenhall in a charity bake-off.
The event at Mildenhall Lodge’s adjacent club, in St John’s Close, on April 22 saw the two parties put their best bakes to the test in aid of military charity Help for Heroes.
Participants worked in six teams to bake and decorate cakes featuring the charity’s logo.
The bake-off was one of many events which took place across the country over the next week in the name of Help for Heroes, encouraging people to ‘bake’ a difference.
Paul Draper, Mildenhall Lodge home manager, said: “It was a brilliant day and we were delighted to be raising money in aid of Help for Heroes.
“I would particularly like to thank RAF Mildenhall for joining us and sharing their excellent baking skills!
“We’re pleased to have a strong relationship with the air base and we look forward to sharing more events with them in the near future, including a picnic in the park event in July.”
