The Health and Safety Executive is charging a company director and three firms after four Suffolk men were crushed to death by a 13 -tonne steel building five years ago.
Brothers Daniel, 30, and Thomas, 26, Hazelton, Peter Johnson, 42, and Adam Taylor, 28, died on January 21, 2011, at Claxton Engineering Services’ yard in Great Yarmouth.
The Hazelton brothers and Peter Johnson lived in Stanton near Bury St Edmunds and Adam Taylor at Rickinghall.
Having completed an investigation into the tragedy, the Health and Safety Executive has decided to charge David Groucott, Director of Encompass Project Management Ltd, under Section 37 of the Heath and safety at Work Act (HSWA).
Claxton Engineering Services Ltd in Norwich and Encompass Project Management Ltd in Thetford have been charged under section three of the act and Hazegood Construction Ltd of Stowmarket under section two and three.
The defendants have been summoned to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court at 2pm on Tuesday February 2.
