Bury St Edmunds Chamber of Commerce is opening its main office within the grounds of West Suffolk College - in a bid to bring education and business closer together.
It is the first time a Chamber of Commerce in the East of England has been sited within a school or college.
Education and business leaders hope the move will provide easy access to information to help students realise their business ambitions.
Dr Nikos Savvas, college principal, said: “We have worked to build excellent links with the business community to enhance our students’ educational experience and career opportunities.
“We’re delighted to welcome the Bury St Edmunds Chamber of Commerce into our college and are proud to be leading the way with this unique collaboration.
“Learning about entrepreneurialship is a vital part of a vocational education.
“With the easy access to business advice and the networking opportunities provided by the chamber being on site,
“I’m sure our students will be at a huge advantage when looking for jobs or considering launching their own business.”
The chamber is offering students the chance to join their enterprise engagement programme with access to free business banking, legal advice, health and safety advice, legal insurance, business advice as well as workshops and networking events.
Matt Moss, chairman of the chamber, added: “We believe in being at the heart of the local economy and our new offices mean we can provide first class services in a first class environment. They also mean we are accessible for local firms and are in the right place to nurture the business leaders of tomorrow.”
The new office will be officially opened at a ceremony on September 23.
