THIS year’s Light up a Life service organised by St Nicholas Hospice Care in Bury St Edmunds will be held on Angel Hill on Sunday December 11.
The service will begin at St Mary’s Church at 6pm with Songs of Praise which will include prayers, readings, hymns and interviews with hospice staff and volunteers.
Afterwards there will be a candlelit procession from the church to Angel Hill for the Light up a Life ceremony at 7.30pm.
Anyone wanting to take part will be offered a candle to carry from the church and have the name of loved ones read out by hospice staff, volunteers and supporters.
Hospice Chaplain Charles Amoah said: “The Light up a Life events are always a very special part of our calendar – it is something we want the whole community to come and share in.
“They allow people to pay their own special tributes to loved ones passed, regardless of whether they have been touched by hospice care or not.”
Light up a Life ceremonies are also being held at Lavenham, Thetford, Sudbury and Haverhill. More information is available from Jenny Unitt on 01284 715572.
