Papworth Trust’s West Suffolk Disability Resource Centre (WSDRC) on Moreton Hall, in Bury St Edmunds, will be holding a Dementia Awareness Day later this month.
The event, which is being held in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society, is for anyone with or caring for a person with dementia. It will cover topics such as what dementia is, and what support services are available.
Speakers will include Sue Vincent from Suffolk Locality, East Suffolk Services, Becky Nicholson from the Alzheimer’s Society, and Pat Cruse from Papworth Trust’s Waveney Centre.
The day is free to attend, and there will be a sandwich lunch and a raffle. The lunch has a suggested donation of £3.
Lisa Frain from the WSDRC said: “This is the first time we have held this event. The Alzheimer’s Society has an office in our centre and provides a range of support services for people with dementia, their families and carers.
“We wanted to put on a dementia awareness event as many people will know and or have someone in their family with dementia. Come along and join us for what should be a useful and supportive day.”
The Dementia Awareness Day will be held on October 18 between 10.30am and 3.30pm.
The WSDRC is located at 4 Bunting Road, Moreton Hall Estate, Bury, IP32 7BX.
