Centre is out on top

STOWMARKET’S Tourist Information Centre is the first in the country to score 100 per cent in a mystery shopper exercise.

The centre, based at the Museum of East Anglia Life, dealt with more than 135,000 enquiries last year and came out on top of a mystery shopper exercise testing tourist information centres.

The centre, which is open seven days a week, serves a large local community as well as offering help and information to tourists and visitors from across the UK and abroad.

Cllr Diana Kearsley, portfolio holder for culture and community, said Mid Suffolk and Babergh rely heavily on income from tourism, and that local revenue would be reduced if it wasn’t for the Stowmarket centre.
