A woman who stole from holiday makers at Center Parcs while working as a receptionist has been jailed.

Claire Ashworth, 21, of Kenninghall Road, East Harling, diverted £22,000 from from customers’ bank accounts into her own over the the course of nine months.

At Ipswich Crown Court last Thursday, Ashworth was jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to theft and acquiring criminal property.

Ashworth transferred the money after obtaining passwords allocated to senior members of staff and depositing the money in her own account.

Matthew Gowen, prosecuting, said Ashworth had ‘frittered away’ the money on luxury items such as clothes and shoes.

Jude Durr, in mitigation, said Ashworth was from a good family with a strong work ethic.

“This case has been a real wake up call for her,” she said.
