ST EDMUNDSBURY Cathedral is set to welcome a new residentiary canon and precentor.
The Rev Martin Eastwood, pictured, will be installed at a choral evensong service at 3.30pm on May 8.
As precentor, Mr Eastwood will be in charge of musical and artistic life of the cathedral as well as public worship.
His predecessor, Canon Michael Hampel, left the cathedral in January to become the precentor of St Paul’s Cathedral, in London.
The Very Reverend Frances Ward, Dean of St Edmundsbury, said: “Martin will bring a great deal to our visions and plans, and indeed our corporate life itself, and we very much look forward to working with him as the future unfolds.
Mr Eastwood said hoped he could contribute to the future of the cathedral.
He said: “I am hugely excited about coming to St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
“I have significant experience in developing innovative arts projects, in fund-raising and fabric matters and I hope all this will contribute to the flourishing of the cathedral in the next few years.”
