Catalytic converter marking event in Mildenhall

News from the Bury Free Press

Police in Mildenhall are holding a catalytic converter marking event next week to help prevent motorists from having theirs stolen.

The day is aimed particularly at owners of vehicles with a high ground clearance such as 4X4s and vans, which tend to be targeted by thieves as they are easier to get underneath.

The converters will be etched with the vehicle’s registration number and marked with a heat-resistant silver spray, which acts as a deterrent to thieves as well as identifying it to scrap dealers as one that has been marked if someone tries to sell it to them.

Owners will also be given a sticker to place in their windscreen to warn potential thieves that the converter has been security protected.

The marking, offered free of charge, will take place between 9am and 3pm on Monday, March 9 at ATS Euromaster Ltd, in Southgate Avenue, Mildenhall.

To book an appointment contact ATS directly on 01638 713841, or PCSO Bill Butcher at Mildenhall Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 or william.butcher@suffolk.pnn.police.uk.
