Householders have been warned to remove keys after locking doors after a set were stolen through a cat flap.
A householder in McIntyre Walk, Bury St Edmunds locked up at 12.30am yesterday morning, leaving the bunch of keys in the lock, and at 4.30am found the keys were gone.
Police say the offender reached up through the cat flap and stole the keys, gaining access to the house, though the keys appear to be the only items stolen.
A police spokesman said: “Police advise residents to always keep their doors and windows locked and to remove the keys keeping them out of sight, denying burglars easy opportunities to gain entry to your property.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bury St Edmunds Priority Crime Team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
