A MOTHER-of-four has transformed her house to turn what used to be a hobby into what she hopes will become a successful business venture.
Carolanne Walsh invested thousands of pounds to change a car port at her house in Great Barton into a work shop and show room.
It will open for the first time next Saturday, offering customers a fashionable range of hats and fascinators, both for hire and for sale.
Mrs Walsh said: “I’m really looking forward to it. We can find something for almost everybody, from a classic hat for a wedding to something that will really get you noticed at Newmarket Races, on Ladies Day or at Ascot and, if you really can’t find one, we can make you something.”
Towards the end of last year her six-year long passion for collecting vintage hats took an unexpected turn when she began buying stock and making her own designs, supporting local businesses where possible by sourcing peacock feathers from the Cambridgeshire Fens and jewellery from Risby Barn.
