A car collided with two vehicles before hitting a jewellers in Stowmarket this morning.

Police were called at around 11.45am to reports a car had collided with a Suzuki car and a Renault Clio before hitting G Tydeman Jewellers on Bury Road.

A police spokeswoman said the driver of the vehicle, an older man, has been taken to hospital to be checked over.

Shop manager, Joe Blackmore, said it was lucky no one was seriously hurt and has closed the shop for the rest of the day.

He said: “There has been an accident involving cars out the front and a man has ended up going into our shop window.

“The window is broken but we’ve got toughened glass so it hasn’t gone everywhere and structurally we are fine.

“It has been a busy day but thankfully all our staff and customers are ok.

“It was a bit of shock when it happened. “We hope to be open again tomorrow.”

Although traffic is moving slow, the road remains open.

The incident comes just over a year after a bus crashed into Edelweiss florists opposite the jewellers.
