Car catches fire after chainsaw falls from back of 'pick-up truck' on A11 in Red Lodge




Police are looking to trace a driver after a chainsaw fell from a vehicle on the A11 in Red Lodge and struck a car which then caught fire.

Officers were called at about 11.10am yesterday (Wednesday, May 22), following reports a chainsaw had fallen off the back of a vehicle, suspected to be a pick-up truck, on the southbound A11 Newmarket Road between the A1101 and B1085.

The chainsaw is reported to have struck a black Toyota Yaris travelling behind, which caught fire as a result of the impact.

No one was injured in the incident.

The chainsaw was recovered from the scene, and police are appealing for the driver of the vehicle to come forward.

Anyone with information who can help with enquiries are urged to contact the Forest Heath Neighbourhood Response Team at Mildenhall Police Station on 101 quoting CAD 128 of May 22.
