Companies with staff car parks are being asked if they would be prepared to offer them for out of office hours public parking during Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre.

Fayre organisers St Edmundsbury Borough Council has asked business organisations, including Ourburystedmunds, to sound out members to see if they are willing to allow their carparks to be used.

A council spokeswoman said they are seeking carparks that are within walking distance of the town centre, for evening and weekend use during the fayre which starts on the evening of Thursday November 26 and runs until the Sunday evening.

Ourburystedmunds suggested in its email newsletter to members: “It could be a good opportunity to generate additional income and/or donate money to charity.”

Businesses interested in helping should contact Sharon Fairweather at the council on 01284 757093 or sharon.fairweather@westsuffolk.gov.uk, after next Monday.

Last year’s Christmas Fayre attracted more than 120,000 visitors with 46 per cent arriving by car.
