By donating between £100 and £5,000 businesses will get a leaf on the Tree of Friends in the new building and be invited to the opening party. Donations are also eligible for tax relief.

Cllr Terry Clements, who helped launch the appeal in April 2017, said: “I have donated £1,500 from my locality budget to this very worthy cause. I really hope local businesses will support them as this building will bring so many positive benefits to the area.”

Horringer and Ickworth WI have also donated £1,362. Margaret Chapman said: "We are looking forward to running a cooking club for local children in the new building. Bringing together local people of all ages is so beneficial for everyone."

The Acorn project hopes to instal the new building this August.
