Suspected cable theft at Needham Market is causing disruption to rail users today.

The suspected theft and a broken down freight train near Manningtree are being blamed for causing a signalling problem, which has resulted in trains being delayed by up to 120 minutes.

National Express East Anglia has made changes to its services, with only one train per hour able to run between Stowmarket and Ipswich.

A replacement bus service is also running to the train service between Stowmarket and Ipswich, while an amended train service is in operation between Cambridge and Stowmarket.

It is not yet known when normal services will resume.
