THE VILLAGE of Coddenham had cause for celebration again last week when the pair who rescued its food store from closure marked a year of trading which had exceeded their expectations.
The corks popped as Jane Soanes and Julia Jacques held a barbecue at Coddenham Food Store which prides itself on its wide range of Suffolk-produced goods.
They were so concerned when its closure was threatened that they gave up their previous jobs to take over the business.
Both have lived in the village for many years and knew what a loss to the community it would be.
A café section has become popular with residents and it also provides other outlets such as a laundry service, outreach post office on three half-days, weekly surgeries by the police and parish council and weekly visit of a wet fish van.
