SHOPPERS welcomed a new addition to Mildenhall on Wednesday as a national chain opened its latest branch.
Budget garden and home store giant Wilkinson has opened a store in St Andrew’ Street, in the old Sainsbury’s store.
Scott Carmichael-Drage, store manager, said the store would try play its part in re-energising Mildenhall town centre.
“I am hoping we can help kickstart something here and get shoppers and traders back into the town,” he said.
John McGhee, Forest Heath district councillor, and Stuart Mitchell, CEO of Wilkinson, were on hand to snip the ribbon.
Mr Mitchell said: “Something we really pride ourselves on is going the extra yard for customers and we’ll be bringing that here. I know Scott well and he will do a great job.”
Members of Mildenhall Fen Tigers joined the 72 new members of staff in officially opening the store.
