Carpets and bedding will continue to form the main offer with some additional giftware.

Staff will also benefit from the company-wide loyalty scheme which rewards long serving employees.

Mr Kerry began his career at the age of 17, selling from the back of a van. He worked his way up and established Matressman in 2004 which now has 23 outlets across the country.

The brand was named the fastest-growing company in the Sunday Times fast track 100 in 2009.

He owns Kerrys department store in Lowestoft and Kerrys carpet store in North Walsham.

Mr Kerry said of the Thetford acquisition: “It’s a fantastic business and well set up and has great synergy with my other companies.

“I love my job and I’m very hands on and for me this is really exciting.”

Mr Kerry’s wife Lindsey and his son Louis also work for the company which has around 290 staff in the UK.

The new general manager is Jaimie Allison and all staff will be retained.
