Free training courses are being made available to employers in the Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill areas through European funding.

MENTA and Opportunities Workshops Ltd and Ixion are providing bespoke face to face courses for staff which include digital media, management, ICT, finance and business services.

Funding is from the European Social Fund and the Skills Agency. Companies with between 10 and 250 employees in the Bury, Haverhill, Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborouogh LEP area are eligible.

Courses vary from half day workshops to fully accredited training programmes to support lifelong learning and business growth and innovation.

Alex Till, chief executive of MENTA, said: “I think it’s fantastic that this free training support is available for staff of established businesses. The criteria the companies have to meet isn’t onerous and Opportunity Workshops project manager Sarah Rands visits each business free of charge to find out, in detail, what staff need to upskill and feel valued.

“It costs a great deal in hard cash and time to find the right employee and staff retention is good, for both morale and the profitability of a company.”
