WHEN Richard Mutimer found working in a charity shop was not for him, he set up his own fund-raising business with friends.
Richard, from Thurston, had been acting the part of someone with brain damage at a conference on brain injury and met a party of children with the problem.
“I felt I couldn’t walk away and do nothing,” He said. “I looked at working in a charity shop but found I had too much energy to be cooped up in a shop.”
So he got together with friends Olly Page, Oli Shilling and Andy Waterhouse to start Out the Woods Clothing, which was launched online this month.
It puts artwork donated predominantly by bands on to fair trade clothing and profits go to the Children’s Trust.
The first designs come from Suffolk- based band Black Sands and Gosport-based quartet Bear Cavalry, along with illustrator David Litchfield, whose T-shirt design is already their best seller, and Oli’s designs.
Richard said: “The reason we went for bands is that a band will have a presence and a ready made fan base. We’d like to hear from any local bands with designs.”
