GLASSWELLS in Bury St Edmunds has launched its online shopping site.

The popular home store, which runs its World of Furniture store in Dettingen Way, Bury, as well as its furniture storage and removals service on Moreton Hall, now showcases 3,000 items through its online service.

Shoppers can browse by visiting a series of virtual rooms at

The online service follows a rebranding earlier this year with a change of look for its livery and logo, which is being rolled out through its fleet of vehicles during the next two years.

Paul Glasswell, managing director, said: “This is fantastic news for Glasswell customers from near and far.

“In addition to visiting our stores in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Haverhill and Saffron Walden, customers can browse at their leisure and have the choice to inquire or purchase online at their convenience and from the comfort of their own homes.

“We also hope to spread the awareness of the Glasswells brand and attract more customers from further afield.”

Kevin Robertson, sales director, said it had been important that Glasswells had a buy online service in order to be on the shortlist of stores customers would visit.

Research had shown that when people wanted a new piece of furniture they would go to the website ahead of visiting the store. It was therefore important the website was looking good and contained a full range of products.

“We very much see the website as additional to the bricks and mortar of our shops which we want to continue.

“It gives a flavour of what people can expect when they get to the store,” he added.

The company is currently looking for a delivery partner. At present it uses Parcel Force for smaller items and, as it moves to furniture online, delivery will be included as part of the store’s normal delivery service.

Since the launch a higher percentage of people using the website have been from outside the immediate area.
