AN MP has expressed his delight after the number of people taking apprenticeships in our area rocketed.
National Apprenticeship Week started on Monday and a 58 per cent increase in the number of people starting one in West Suffolk was welcomed by Matthew Hancock.
He said: “Apprenticeships allow people to earn and learn at the same time, while significantly increasing their potential future earnings.
“That’s why it is such great news that 270 more people in West Suffolk started an apprenticeship last year thanks to the Coalition’s extra investment.”
Bury St Edmunds also saw a 21 per cent increase, after 910 people took up apprenticeships in 2010/11.
