A SUPPORT group for people suffering from chronic pain has received £700 in county and borough council grants.

The Chronic Pain Support Group, based at West Suffolk Hospital’s Education Centre, will receive £300 from Councillor Craig Dearden-Phillips of Suffolk County Council and £400 from Councillor Trevor Beckwith of St Edmundsbury Borough Council as part of their locality budgets.

The money will be used to update the group’s website and printed pamphlets to get more people to attend the group.

The support group gives people suffering from chronic pain somewhere to go and chat with people who are dealing with the same experiences.

Linda Sebbage, Chairwoman of the Chronic Pain Support Group, said: “People with chronic pain can lose the will to live sometimes, it can affect their whole lives. We are there to listen to them and support them. The medical profession is watching us to see how it goes for us, we are spearheading this idea.”

Craig Deardon-Phillips said: “Pain can be a very isolating experience for people and getting together to share your experience can be a very powerful experience.”
