A MOTHER and daughter team have opened a new childrenswear shop in Bury St Edmunds.

Millies, in the town’s Buttermarket, opened its doors to customers for the first time on April 13.

The shop was set up by Charlotte West, 23, and her mother Tina Geddes, 45, who saw a gap in the market to sell new children’s clothes.

Charlotte, who trained as a fashion designer, also hopes to unveil her own brand of children’s clothes into the shop.

She said it was a daunting idea starting her own business but she’d been surprised how smoothly it has gone.

She said: “It’s the first shop I’ve ever opened – me and my mum are doing it together.

“It is lovely that we’ve been able to do this, it makes it a real family shop.

“I am trained as a fashion designer so plan to introduce my own range of children’s clothes to sell in the shop, possibly in the autumn.

“I have been very impressed with how well its going so far, I was expecting the first few days to be a bit quiet but business has been great. It has been an incredible experience setting up the shop, I hope people will love it as much as I do.”
