AN ENTREPRENEURIAL couple are expanding a successful scheme which encourages businesses to network.

Baz and Lynette Green have run Office Drinks, in Bury St Edmunds, for a year and plan to introduce the project in many other areas including London, Ipswich, Thetford, Diss and Haverhill.

The scheme sees 25 local business owners attend monthly meetings at The Ivory, in Abbeygate Street, where they spend 15 minutes chatting in groups of five before moving tables to join another group.

The events are designed to give everyone in the room the chance to talk to each other.

Mr Green said: “We found in Bury that local businesses have heard of each other but didn’t know the people involved.

“These events put a face to those companies and encourage small local firms to do business with each other.”

After enjoying success with the project, the couple have launched a new website and their own You Tube channel to show prospective customers what they can expect from an Office Drinks event.

The business model is also to be made available in other areas.

Mrs Green said: “We’re looking for hosts to run events in their local area with our support.

“As well as the networking opportunities that the evenings offer, running an event can be a profitable exercise in itself.

“We have already seen many business relationships born over a sociable evening in the pub that benefit everyone involved.”

The pair also run Virtual Head Office, in Northgate Street, Bury, which provides head office support for small to medium sized businesses.

The Office Drinks events are held on the second Wednesday of the month.
