A NEW website has been launched to tell you everything you every needed to know about Bury St Edmunds.
The site, www.ourburystedmunds.com, also launches a new ‘brand image’ for Bury.
Bid4Bury chief executive Mark Cordell said at the launch on Thursday: “When the business improvement district was created, people were asked what they wanted it to do and what they wanted was a co-ordinated marketing strategy.
“There are so many different locations to go to on the web for Bury. We want this to be the one place to go to find out about the town.
“It’s unashamedly a commercial site because Bid4Bury members are paying for it. Their businesses are the focus but we do promote events in the town and we link to the tourism website.”
Designed by Cubic Design in Newmarket, all 350 Bid4Bury member companies have a page with contact details, links to their own site and location maps.
Members of the public are invited to sign up for the site, which will give them access to special offers.
In about a month they plan to launch Android and iPhone apps to bring the information and offers to smart phones.
Chairman of the Visit Bury St Edmunds tourism group Melanie Lesser said it would be linking its website to the Our Bury St Edmunds one and would look at adopting a matching style. She did not see the two sites as rivals and said: “We only have tourism and leisure businesses on our site. If you want a solicitor or an accountant, we don’t have it.”
