An app that serves as an online shop and ‘loyalty card’ combined has been launched by Nicola Sexton Shoes.

The Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds, has long had a website but owner Nicola Sexton says feedback from that showed an increasing use of smartphones and tablet computers and photographer Justin Bailey, of North Norfolk Visuals, who does her fashions shoots, suggested a special app.

Nicola said the shopping side of the app is little different to going on her website, but she added: “The main point is we’re launching a loyalty scheme through it, so each time you spend more than a certain amount we ‘stamp’ the card on the app.

“We can send out a push notification three times a week on it. You can send out a notification to say you’ve had a new delivery or there’s a promotion for the next 24 hours.

“When people have bought shoes they can put up a photo of themselves wearing them and we’ll have a competition for the best picture.

“There are so many ways you can interact with your client on it.”

Though she says she is not technically minded, Nicola is enthusiastic about the app’s potential and adds: “I think it’s a valuable tool for any shop.”

The app is available for Apple, through iTunes, and Android from Google Play.
