Well-known Bury St Edmunds dentist Peter Clinton has died.

A police spokesman said they were contacted at 9.30am last Monday following ‘concerns for the welfare of a man’ and that the body of a local man in his 50s was found inside a residential property in Guildhall Street shortly after.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner ahead of an inquest which will take place in due course,” he said.

An answerphone message at the Hollow Road practice says: “You are through to Peter Clinton Dental Surgery. The surgery is now closed until further notice due to the sudden death of Peter Clinton. Every effort is being made to open the surgery as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, if you have an emergency, for daytime hours please call PALS service on 0800 3896 819.

“For evenings and weekends, please call the NHS 111 service. Thank you.”
