A town centre supermarket is seeking permission to install an outside seating area in Bury St Edmunds.

Waitrose is hoping to include a ‘small number of’ picnic style tables outside its branch in Robert Boby Way.

The application also concerns the installation of four signage banners.

A spokeswoman said: “Following the popularity of outdoor seating areas at our other branches, we are currently looking into the same opportunity for our customers in Bury St Edmunds.

“We hope that by creating an enjoyable shopping experience, it will encourage new people to visit the town.”
