Bury St Edmunds street bands together for hospice

Musicians and cake bakers on the Howard Estate in Bury St Edmunds have made around £500 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

From Steve Robertson’s front garden in Parkington Walk, together with John Radford, the pair have been entertaining neighbours with music, firstly for NHS staff and key workers on May 28 and then for the hospice from May 31.

He said: “I would like to say a very heart warming thanks to everyone that had donated, as their generosity was well beyond what I expected as there was normally only around 15 to 20 people and due to weather conditions we probably only did seven gigs.”

As well as music, neighbours nine-year-old Mia Roffe and three-year-old Luca Roffe baked and sold a selection of cakes from their front garden and made £60 which went to the final total.
