Bury St Edmunds shop Steamer Trading to become ProCook shop
Seven jobs have been saved at a Bury St Edmunds cookware shop after its owners elected to rebrand it.
All Steamer Trading's 19 UK shops will close this summer, having been brought out of administration by ProCook in January.
But the St John's Street store will be one of 11 former Steamer Trading outlets to be refurbished and then reopen as a ProCook shop.
The eight Steamer Trading stores due to close are:
New ProCook stores will be:
·Bury St Edmunds
·Bath (previously Kitchens Cookshop)
·Bristol (previously Kitchens Cookshop)
Two Kitchens Cookshop stores will also become a ProCook.
ProCook owner Daniel O’Neill said:“After almost six months of trying to get the Steamer Trading model to work and a significant amount of investment we have we have been forced draw the brand to a close.
"We have concluded that our best route to success is to utilise the most profitable sites in expansion plans for ProCook. This will enable ProCook to maintain a high street presence and will save jobs that would otherwise be lost."
Steamer Trading is currently holding a closing down sale in Bury St Edmunds. It has not been said when it will reopen as a ProCook.
It is a relief for their seven staff as eight Steamer Trading branches will close for good. Thirty-four staff will be affected across the board.
