New build at Abbots Green Primary to house Year 5

Following the move to a two-tier education system, Abbots Green Community Primary School, in Bury St Edmunds, has welcomed Year 5 children for the first time in its history.

Headteacher Heidi Franklin said: “We are delighted to welcome our first group of Year 5 children to Abbots Green. Moving to the two-tier system has been a long time coming for Bury St Edmunds and we are already seeing the positive impact of having the children with us until the end of Year 6.

“The building project to accommodate our additional children has been very smooth and we are thrilled with the result. The learning environment is proving to be superb for our Upper Key Stage 2 children.

“We have received some wonderful feedback from parents at the school which is proving to us that the move to become a full primary is exactly the right thing for the children.”

This year brings the school’s largest pupil numbers with more than 360 now registered.
