Bury St Edmunds Macebearer pub regular Melanie Rodgers inspires drum and bass night in aid of Cancer Research UK

Fund-raisers are being asked to ‘Brave the Rave’ and dig deep at a charity event in Bury St Edmunds tomorrow night.

The Macebearer pub is holding an old school drum and bass night in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The event was inspired by regular Melanie Rodgers, 40, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment and is about to start a course of radiotherapy.

Brave the Rave will see Carl Whitehouse, of Whitehouse Entertainment, on the decks, while collection buckets will be passed about and sweet cones sold for £1 each, all in aid of charity.

Sarah Garza, who works at the pub, said: “The whole idea is to come along and enjoy yourself and raise money for charity at the same time.”

The event is from 7.30pm until the bar closes at midnight. Entry is free but donations are welcome.
