A 20-year-old man has been charged following an incident in Bury St Edmunds during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were called at around 3.10am to an injured man in Fieldfare Close, on the Moreton Hall estate.

The man, who is in his twenties, reported that he had been robbed, assaulted and sexually assaulted by a man in Mount Road, Moreton Hall, sometime between 2.30am and 3am.

A man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of robbery and was taken to the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where he was charged yesterday.

Kyle Haggerty of Anselm Avenue, Bury, has been charged with attempted rape, robbery and burglary.

He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today.
