Bury St Edmunds fund-raiser Gina Long has received her MBE for charitable services and says the award is for all the ‘incredible fund-raisers she has been lucky enough to work with’.
Mrs Long travelled with her family to Buckingham Palace to receive the honour from Prince Charles.
She said: “My MBE is not just for me, it’s for my husband and children, along with all the incredible inspiring voluntary fundraisers I have been lucky enough to work with over the last 35 years. It’s never just one person.”
Mrs Long has helped raise more than £2 million for local and national charities and causes.
She launched Sir Bobby’s Online Charities Auction which has supported a number of charities, was one of the founding members of the Suffolk Breakthrough Breast Cancer Group and set up her own GeeWizz Charitable Trust to help children with disabilities and those affected by cancer as well as funding cancer research.
