A Bury St Edmunds centenarian who has a residential street in the town named after her has died.

Iris Lacey, of Hardwick Lane, died peacefully at West Suffolk Hospital.

She would have been 102 in January and was the widow of the late Cyril Lacey, a Bury accountant who died in 1969.

Alicia Court, in Bury, on which Cyril built some houses, is named after her.

Iris had three children and leaves behind three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Her earliest memory, at the age of four, was sampling her father’s bread at Elm where he, a master baker, plied his trade.
