Bury St Edmunds MP Jo Churchill and West Suffolk MP Matt Hancock back Theresa May ahead of no confidence vote

MPs for Bury St Edmunds and West Suffolk have said they will be backing Prime Minister Theresa May, who faces a vote of no confidence in her leadership tonight.

Jo Churchill and Matt Hancock both spoke in support of the Prime Minister on Twitter this morning ahead of the vote which is due to take place between 6pm and 8pm tonight, after the required 48 letters calling for a vote were submitted.

In a tweet, Mr Hancock, who is Health and Social Care Secretary, said: "I’m voting for the Prime Minister tonight and urge all colleagues to do the same.

"We should all be focussed on coming together for the sake of the future of the country."

Also on Twitter, Mrs Churchill said: "I will be supporting @theresa_may in tonight’s vote.

"This is a distraction from delivering on the result of the referendum and is against our country’s interests."
