Spaces in Bury St Edmunds’ Multi-storey Carpark may have to be closed while repairs are carried out on frost damaged brickwork.
The work, starting on Monday, has been scheduled to avoid the pre-Christmas period and work will be carried out in sections with the scaffolding being moved about every six weeks for the next few months.
The car park should be fully open for the majority of the work, but there will be a loss of about 40 spaces for a few days at a time while scaffolding is put in place. Arrangements will be made for season ticket holders if the carpark fills up and long term parking is available at Ram Meadow.
Cllr Peter Stevens, St Edmundsbury Borough Council Cabinet Member for Operations said: “We recognise that there is high demand on our car parks in Bury St Edmunds and that these works will inevitably have some impact. These are, however, essential repairs and if left, the wall will become dangerous”.
