Bury death probe: Tributes paid to ‘Aunty’

Have your say

Tributes have been paid to a woman who was killed in Bury St Edmunds this week.

Police named the woman yesterday as Mary Roberts, 50.

Investigations are continuing into how she died.

Two men aged 55 and 59, both from the Bury area, were interviewed by police and have now been bailed to return to the Bury Police Investigation Centre on June 4 and 5 respectively.

Tributes have been paid on the Suffolk Police Facebook site to Mary Roberts.

Roxine Nicholls said she was the ‘the best sister in law ever’ and should not have been described by police as having no fixed abode.

“That makes her sound like a tramp, she was far from that; a place of her own and five beautiful children.”

Cheryl Roberts posted: “She was most certainly a someone in our eyes. R.I.P Auntie Mary.”

Sharn Oman said: “Such sad news, didn’t know the lady but my heart goes out to the family x.”

Tammy Bennett posted: “RIP Mary, u always brought a smile to my face! U will never be forgot. Sending our love to u all. X x”
