Police are appealing for information after a home burglary in Badwell Ash in which a shotgun was stolen and an attempted burglary in Westhorpe, both on Friday night.

A home in Hunston Road, Badwell Ash, was broken into between 5pm and 10pm during which a Meiner 16-bore side-by-side shotgun and a jewellery box were stolen.

At Westhorpe, a woman inside a Tudor Court property heard someone attempting to get in through a back door at around 10pm. A second attempt was made a few minutes later while she was on the phone to police.

She turned lights on inside the property which is thought to have scared off the would-be burglar.

Police believe the incidents may be linked and are asking anyone who may have seen something suspicious or who has information about either incident to call Dc Suzanna Newell at Bury St Edmunds CID by dialling 101, quoting reference ST/15/515 for Badwell Ash or ST/15/513 for Westhorpe.
