Bringing the glamour of the West End to West Suffolk College’s hair and beauty show
Students brought the glitz and glamour of the West End to West Suffolk College in their stunning hair and beauty awards show.
The hair and beauty students battled it out in the final round of heats for the competition to win top prizes for hair styles and make-up inspired by top London shows.
Competitors created looks from Cats, Bugsy Malone, The Lion King, Hairspray, The Rocky Horror Show, We Will Rock You and the Wizard of Oz.
Danielle Moye, of Thetford, won the most imaginative hairdressing and NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing awards with her Wizard of Oz style. She said: “I’m better with hair than words but I’m really pleased to have won. I love competitions and I really loved this one. The tutors were fantastic and my model Emma Hubbard was brilliant.”
Jane Robson, of Old Buckenham, won the overall best beauty therapy and NVQ Level 2 Beauty (mature student) awards. She said: “I’ve loved the event but I’ve been really stressed about it too. I’ve done lots of practice beforehand, so this has paid off. I wouldn’t have won if it hadn’t been for my daughter and model, Elizabeth Robson.”
Other winners were Aimee Brand, VRQ Intro to Hair and Beauty; Connie Boughton, Work Based Learning NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing Year 1; Megan Squirrell, NVQ Level 1 Full Time hairdressing; Cheryl Clachan, NVQ Level 2 Full Time Hairdressing and Natalie Copeland, Retailer of the Year.
NVQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy Winning Team went to Sophie Prior, Louise Ellis, Kelsey Button, Shenise Breslin and Yazmin Rotterford.
