Two iconic buildings in Bury St Edmunds are being captured in Lego bricks to flag up the Brick City exhibition coming to the town.

The exhibition of famous landmarks by Warren Elsmore will open at Moyse’s Hall Museum on January 16.

There will also be a series of special Lego workshops for schoolchildren, drop in workshops for parents and a competition The Great Bury Brick Off.

To coincide with the exhibition St Edmundsbury heritage officers have arranged for Moyse’s Hall and the Abbey Gate to be recreated in a mini-figure scale of 1:40 by independent Lego builder Rhys Knight.

The Brick City display runs for three weeks but the two local re-creations will remain at the museum after the exhibition closes.

Heritage officer Alex McWhirter said: “Bury is blessed with some of the finest architecture in the country and these recreations are a fun way of helping to tell the story of our town.”
